McLain State Park

A wonderful family camping adventure at McLain State Park in mid-July!

The sunset from the campground was stunning! There were comfy benches along the shoreline with incredible views of the beautiful Lake Superior. The playground was a hit for our little toddler.

Most sites has electric hookup but they were quite compact. You may need to use extension cord to plug in since most sites have to share the outlet. The area has low cell coverage so if you need to stay connected, you will need your booster.

There are a lot of activities to do. It seems like the area has plenty of waterfalls and mountain bike trails.

Our favorite was the short hike to the breakwater where the beach is perfect for our little one who loves pebbles.

We also took a nice scenic ride to Copper Harbor to check out the town and the lookouts. It was a nice little family excursion that brought back great memories from our honeymoon. It was the harbor where we caught the ferry lift to Isle Royale National Park.

Overall, it certainly was worth checking out and a great location for active family!
